Pray

An Invitation to Pray

"I prayed,' God, I don't know how you're going to do it. It looks humanly impossible. I can't conceive how it'll ever get done, but you're the God of the impossible.'
--George Cowan, Wycliffe Bible Translators president emeritus

God delights in hearing our prayers, because He is the God of the impossible. When we believe that, it’s easy to understand how our prayers have a strategic purpose in the work of Bible translation. We invite you to join us in praising His name and seeking His provision.
We have several tools to help you pray for specific needs:
  • PrayToday is updated daily with a new request—perfect for using in your devotions.
  • Check out Publications to subscribe to our prayer newsletters.
  • Learn how to connect with a people group waiting for Scripture, and receive updates on translation projects for this group, at Pray for the Bibleless.
  • Local bodies of believers are some of our key allies in prayer. Visit Church Partnerships to learn how your church can join a nationwide movement of intercession.
  • Perhaps you want to pray for a missionary who is on the front lines of Bible translation. You can search by job title, location, and support need, then correspond with the person or family you’ve chosen to pray for.
  • Check out our prayer resources for videos, children’s lessons, and materials you can share with groups.
  • Prayer is a powerful way to advance the Kingdom of God. Learn more about why we pray.
  • If you’re curious about something you’ve read, spend a few minutes with our frequently asked questions and their answers.
